How do YOU decide what to believe?
You Decide
As a child we're so free, so full of life
With character and heart to spare
In our natural state, we play and create
Live and love with never a care
As we grow and learn, we take on beliefs
As simply as breathing the air
This, over time, closes our minds
And what's worse, we're not even aware
Now that we've grown into proper adults
Full of limits and filters galore
Our attention isn't free as it once used to be
Our vision isn't clear anymore
We each view the world through filters, you see
Our beliefs, the glasses we're using
This we have done since we were young
With so many, life can be confusing
Often, we don't even know they are there
Beliefs can be quite transparent
Affecting each glance, each circumstance
Just how, not always apparent
It's up to us to clean the lens
To remove the obstructions from view
Open our eyes, prepare for surprise
Instead of just what's assumed true
We all have the power to believe what we want
We all are quite able to choose
Deliberately create, determine our fate
Travel down new avenues
Fact is, we still can be anything . . .
The limits we know came from where?
Let them all go, as you stretch and grow
Create the life you want, if you dare.
